How Does Electric Foil Boards Function?
An eFoil board is a complex electric ride especially when it is to know how this work. Many scientific theories and laws apply over how this board can stand above the water without even touching it. Let us break down various components of the electric hydrofoil boards, which make them work in a way they actually do.
- Physics – Basic principle is: electric foil board sails over the water at the upward angle that causes water to move downward. It is where third law of Newton, “Every action, there’s an equal & opposite reaction” takes place. An action is water getting downward, and this reacts by creating the upward force, which lifts an e-foil out.
- Design – The electric foil boards appear quite similar to the electric surfboards. However, e-foils are more difficult and smaller to function as one need to control their height with the body weight. It’s basically the surfboard with hydrofoil attached below. The hydrofoil is a fin-like object, which goes some feet off its bottom of a board. At an end of the fin, you can find the airplane-like attachment. - Specifications – E-foils generally weigh 30KG to 40KG, which includes the board and battery. Certain models last over 60 minutes if used to fly. Some, however, can have the flying time of around 70 to 90 minutes. Most of the e-foil boards operate on 20 km per hour speed. That depends on the battery life and some have the top speed of 50 km per hour.
